Preparing Prawn Biriyani:

Prawn Biriyani

This is the different recipe and you can definitely try at odd times. Combining sea food with variety of spices give unique flavour of South Indian taste. Enjoy.

Ingredients:

1. Prawn - ½ kg.
2. Onion - ¼ kg.
3. Green Chilli – 10 no.
4. Tomato – 3 no.
5. Lemon (Lime) – 1 no.
6. Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon.
7. Basmathi Rice - ½ kg.
8. Oil – 50 ml.
9. Ginger – 20 gms.
10. Garlic – 25 gms.
11. Cinnamon – 2 pcs.
12. Cardamom – 3 nos.
13. Cloves – 3 nos.
14. Turmeric powder – 1 pinch.
15. Chopped Coriandor leaves – 50 gms.
16. Mint leaves – 50 gms.
17. Fennel seed (Chombu) – 3 teaspoons.
18. Coconut Milk (Extracted from crated coconut ) – 200 ml.

Preparation Procedure:

Step 1. Clean the rice.

Step 2. Heat the vessel and add oil and add cinnamon and cloves. After a while, add onion, coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilli and fry.

Step 3. Add cleaned prawns and chopped tomatoes.

Step 4: Add a pinch of turmeric powder and red chilli powder.

Step 5: Prepare a paste containing fennel seed, ginger, cardamom, garlic with green chilli.

Step 6. Add this paste to the mixture and then add coconut milk.

Step 7: Add 500 ml. of water and allow it to boil well and add rice.

Step 8. Now add lemon juice into the mixture.

Step 9. This needs to be cooked in low flames in the pressure cooker for over 10 minutes.

Step 10. Serve it hot and enjoy.


Secret Tips:

  • Fry the masalas until it is cooked well.
  • Add 2 teaspoons of ghee finally to enhance the taste.
  • Biriyani goes well with lemon-mixed-onions. To avoid over-hotness, wash the onions well before it is mixed with lemon.
