
Ingredients:
1. Toor Dal - 1 Cup.
2. Onion - ½ cup.
3. Drumstick - 1 (4 pieces)
4. Brinjal - 100 gms.
5. Potato - 100 gms.
6. Tomato - 4
7. Green Chilli - 4 pcs.
8. Tamarind - 25 gms.
9. Mustard (Kadugu) - ½ teaspoon.
10. Urid Dal - ½ teaspoon.
11. Red Chilli - 2 pcs.
12. Asafoetida (Perungayam) - 2 pinch.
13. Curry leaves, Coriander leaves and salt as required.
Preparation Procedure :
- Take the dal and boil it well.
- Take all the vegetables, onion, tomato, green chilli and fry it using frying pan adding the oil slightly. (Fry vegetables slightly before you proceed rather than using vegetables raw. )
- Now place the thick bottom wessel and heat it with oil to prepare for seasoning.
- Add mustard, curry leaves, red chilli and urid dal.
- When it starts popping, add the mixture of dal and vegetables and add coriander leaves.
- Now allow it to boil well.
- Before you take it off the stove, add ¼ cup of taramind juice.
- Now add asafoetida powder and stir it till this powder and taramind juice get mixed.
- Serve hot and taste the incomparable Sambar which goes very well with Idly.
Secret Tips:
- Adding too much of taramind juice would make it more suitable to rice than to idly.
- In step 2, there is a secret tip that many do not know. Frying all the vegetables slightly before you proceed gives the unique and better taste than using vegetables raw.

best option is to go to nearest hotel and pay 5rs. and have Idly without tension :)
In India its ok to go to nearest hotel but in other countries its better to cook it in home.espesially when there are more than 2 or 3 people.............
